Description
The Treeing Walker Coonhound has an appearance that falls greatly in line with most coonhounds. Its head is wide with a wedge-shaped muzzle that is somewhat long. This breed's ears are shorter than average and set above eye level. They eyes and nose are dark in color. The breed has a well-defined stop. Its neck is well muscled and average in length. The neck transitions to somewhat sloping shoulders and a long back. Its chest is deep and the rib cage well sprung. The front legs are straight and the back legs angled. Its tail is long and set above its back. The tail is carried slightly upward. Its coat is short, shiny, and close to its body.
Temperament
The Treeing Walker Coonhound is typically a hunting companion, but also makes a great family pet. It has a gentle nature and is a good companion for children. It also does fine with other pets in its home, including dogs. Although it may act willful at times, this breed is very responsive to training. It learns quickly and loves learning new tricks. The Treeing Walker Coonhound is courageous and is effective as a watchdog.
