Description
The most distinguishing feature of the Tibetan Mastiff is its large head and profuse fur around its collar. Its coat consists of two layers. The coat that is most visible is either smooth or somewhat curly. The bottom layer is wooly in appearance and coarse. It has muscular limbs and a tail that is set level with its back and forms a sickle over its back. Its head and muzzle are broad.
Temperament
The Tibetan Mastiff is a large breed with both a gentle and strong temperament. It has patience and is generally gentle with children. However, it should not be left alone with children that are very small or young because it may inadvertently cause them harm. This breed usually does well with strangers since they are indoors. It will bark when visitors arrive to the home.
Height and Weight
The Tibetan Mastiff stands about 25-28 inches tall and weighs 140-170 pounds.
